Professional Designing Tips For Newbies

Well I had been thinking about writing this down for all my Juniors there, who are not able to prove themselves in the designing competitions online, due to weird kind of designs they are usually submitting, MOSTLY PRE-MADE TEMPLATES.

Now I agree guys most of you won’t have much knowledge on how to design in Photoshop or Fireworks, so you tend to move to Logo Designing Softwares. There’s nothing wrong with that seriously. Even I use one sometimes to obtain graphic images for my designs, but there’s something called tactics that you need to adopt to design professionally out of nothing at all. Have a Glimpse at this Logo I recently Designed.

At first glance it may appear like a very sophisticated logo, but it isn’t really so. You can use any text at all, but I used ‘Neuropol Bold’ for main text, and simple ‘College Regular’ for Tagline. The art is just to arrange the two fonts in such a way to make them look professional and photoshop quality. Like for e.g the whole text above is made uniform, with an ‘E’ that is different from the main font. This ‘E’ will signify the forum when the whole text is not in use. Appreciate the use of the same ‘E’ with a traingle in background. This image could be used as a favicon as well. The logo is well made in a Logo Design Software but it doesn’t appear to be so. I could do the same things in Photoshop as well. So you see, with some sense of your own creativity, you have created a logo in half the time, and with better results than photoshop in a Logo Design Software.

In this way, I used my own creativity instead of opting for the pre-made logo designs that I could have just edited and uploaded with ease. But then it won’t prove to be my design. By means of designing this way I not only proved that the design is totally mine (despite the ease of availability of graphic images) but also saved my valuable time. Plus noone can really tell what did I used in this, unless he’s an expert ofcourse. Like I can read within a Logo Lines and really make out what software one used, with the experience I have gained over the years with their use.

So next time, you sit down designing something, try to design something your own with the tons of objects that are available in the Logo Suite rather than going with the templates. It’ll enhance your creativity. Plus just you should know, fixing things in graphics to add up together is not an easy task. Like for e.g. Most people would not think on the same lines as I did when designing this logo. For starters you might design something that doesn’t fits well, but redo and try to eradicate your faults. You’ll learn new things each day of your career as a designer.
